Do you understand what it is to be haunted? Can you imagine living every night of your life, unable to step within the darkened world without hearing a voice? Or to taste the air and know that an impossible scent rides on the wind?
At least I had long since ceased to imagine her heartbeat, or no doubt it would have echoed along the bricks and cobbles of my nightly sojourns.
My Claudia was ended in Paris, this I know for fact. And yet, here I am, a man, nay, a vampire, who carries her ghost at my side eternally.
