"Get down!"
The order came with stentorian force, and Bunny was obeying before the human half of her brain caught up.
The marine that had been slightly forward and left of her didn't. The river had a brief explosion of darkening colors, matter that her cybernetic brain identified too swiftly… and then even that trace was gone, wiped away in the fast flowing current.
All she could do was trace the vector back to the likely pulse beam emplacement. She would have had to do that no matter what, yet now it meant her comrade's death would not be in vain.
