July Challenge Day 26
From Love Poem
You need more than I or anyone can give.
But, fool that I am, I love you.

Mal's teeth ground in his clenched jaw, watching as Nikolai spun Alina through the dancing. He could not help himself, even knowing this was all for political gain. He wanted to whisk Alina away to safety, yet what safety existed? Taking this path, hiding all of the love, watching her grow into her Saint status… it was the safest and most dangerous path for them all.
She deserved the adoration and love of all, but Mal feared there was no love strong enough in the world for her, to protect her from the horrors.
Yet still, he loved her fully.
