Day 8:
She just stared at me
as if she didn't understand.
But she did.
She gave up the Emerald City
for a memory.

Day 9:
If you suffer in the grave,
you can kill from it.

Day 10:
Sorrow had never knocked on my door
and if it had, I wouldn't have answered.

Day 11:
Lord have mercy, I'm still alive, I thought,
As I floated into the street beside the body of someone familiar,

Day 12:
It simply put on a new mask
and now it feeds off fear
that is mostly justified

Day 13:
They call me a cruel sonofabitch
just to aggravate me,
but my strength is the truth.

Day 14:
Those scissors you wielded like a surgeon
cut away that version of me
and now you don't know who I am
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 1:
anyway, we were sick of bullshit rules
that make a girl go crazy.

Day 2:
They didn't worry about the future,
or what that lie might mean to me.

Day 3:
a member of the audience holds up
an object from your past
and you identify it with charades

Day 4:
"But I've already been tempted twice and given in.
Sin is so delicious,

Day 5:

Then as if on command,
I start running from childhood

Day 6:
Nobody believes the lies you tell,
but they want to
and that's enough.

Day 7:
After he told them, "Go ahead and kill me. I don't give a damn."
I am not that courageous, or am I.

Day 22:
and she would think

i want to be
like that

Day 23:
there is a hunger
often associated with pain

Day 24:
dreams have a way
of tossing and turning themselves
around

Day 25:
I have built my dreams on the love of a man

Day 26:
your mother may be glad to see you
but she may also remember why
you went away

Day 27:
love is only and always about the lover not the beloved

Day 28:
we were seeing the revolution screeeeeeeeeeeeching
to a halt
trying to find a clever way
to be empty

Day 29:
it is not unusual
that the old bury the young
though it is an abomination

Day 30:
i was very exquisite once very small and well courted
some would say a beauty when my hair was plaited

Day 31:
i think it might be good
to decide rather than to need
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 15:
i'm all alone
sitting with myself
waiting for the telephone

Day 16:
once a snowflake fell
on my brow and i loved
it so much and i kissed
it

Day 17:
it's a little off center
this life we're leading

Day 18:
i only know her through her eyes
she is old now not only from years
but from aging

Day 19:
I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal
I cannot be comprehended
except by my permission

Day 20:
sometimes
when i wake up
in the morning
and see all the faces
i just can't
breathe

Day 21:
so she replied: show me someone not full of herself
and i'll show you an empty person

Day 8:
Go 'way
Can't you see I'm lonely

Day 9:
something within demands
action
or words
if action is not possible

Day 10:
emotional falls always are
the worst
and there are no crutches
to swing back on

Day 11:
i am a leaf
falling from your tree
upon which i was
impaled

Day 12:
how else to spend
a rainy day
other than with you

Day 13:
you've just got to dig sly
and the family stone
damn the words
you gonna be dancing to the music

Day 14:
if they take my life
it won't stop
the revolution
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 1:
I came to the crowd seeking love
I came to the crowd for understanding

Day 2:
my silence is at least
as sexy as your love
and twice as easy
to take

Day 3:
and neither of them ever
said what they meant
and i guess nobody ever does

Day 4:
the world is not a pleasant place
to be without
someone to hold and be held by

Day 5:
if you love me why
do i feel so lonely

Day 6:
there will be reservations
only
if we fail

Day 7:
Art
and by necessity
artists
are on the cutting edge
of change

Congratulations to all of us!

Remember, we have permanent amnesty here for all our our previous rounds, so if you were writing something and you didn't get the opportunity to finish it, this would be the perfect time!

Since no one said anything differently when I asked about rewards for finishing the challenge, this year I'm going to be giving those on the master list 40 DW points this month.

Thank you so much for participating! I'll check in with you again soon. :)

Day 22:
From this day forth, you tun into the dreamer
of everything: the world within your hand.

Day 23:
I'm not a car, I'm a person,
A man-god, a god-man
Whose days are numbered. Hallelujah

Day 24:
Whatever I scream or say or whisper is only
to console myself

Day 25:
I have gathered many consolations in my life
and squandered them, many sorrows
that I spilled in vain.

Day 26:
You didn't eat, weren't filled. You spoke big words
with a small mouth. Your heart will never learn to judge distances.

Day 27:
The scent of her drying hair is
prophesying in the streets and among stars.

Day 28:
These are the last days of books.
Next come the last days of words. Some day
you will understand.

Day 29:
Loving each other began this way: threading
loneliness into loneliness
patiently, our hands trembling and precise.

Day 30:
Later they'll jump down again
to the sound of applause and wars.

Day 31:
They are all dice
that landed on the lucky side.
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 15:
Your eyes are sad and beautiful
like the pictures of flowers in a textbook.

Day 16:
And love—a couple of nights
like rare stamps. To stroke the heart
without breaking it.

Day 17:
But a great love begins here, sometimes,
with the sound of dry branches snapping in the dead forests.

Day 18:
All these make a strange
dance rhythm. But I don't know who's dancing to it
or who's calling the tune.

Day 19:
My eyes were prophets then, but my body had no idea
what it was going through or where it belonged.

Day 20:
stand by my side and dry your face now
and smile as if in a family photo.

Day 21:
May you find lasting peace,
the living in their lives, the dead
in being dead.
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 8:
And I said to myself: that's true, hope needs to be
like barbed wire to keep out despair,
hope must be a mine field.

Day 9:
Here they sit and there they walk
Here they hate and there they love.

Day 10:
Sometimes I come crashing down inside myself
without anyone noticing. I'm like an ambulance
on two legs

Day 11:
And his soul is seasoned, his soul
is very professional.
Only his body remains forever
an amateur.

Day 12:
More than one prophet
has left this tangle of lanes
while everything topples above him and he becomes someone else.

Day 13:
Near my bed, the rustle of newspaper wings.
There are no other angels.

Day 14:
Perhaps from being beaten thinner and thinner,
the iron of hatred will vanish, forever.
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 1:
No use to weep inside and to scream outside.
Behind all this perhaps some great happiness is hiding.

Day 2:
The first rain reminds me
Of the rising summer dust.

Day 3:
Love is not the last room: there are others
after it, the whole length of the corridor
that has no end.

Day 4:
But then it is the light that makes you remember.

Day 5:
Restless I shall wander about;
hungry for life I'll die.

Day 6:
And no more shall we tell what we were told
To other tellers. Silence as admission.

Day 7:
Do not accept these rains that come too late.
Better to linger. Make your pain
An image of the desert.

saekhwa: Text that reads: 'Telle est la vie des mots' (Such is the life of words) (such is the life of words)
[personal profile] saekhwa
Day 25:
Out of the mournful sweetness of touching
comes love
like breakfast.

Day 26:
The lady of water, rising on the beach,
a piano at her fingertips, shame
on her lips and a flute's speech.

Day 27:
Still, I search these woods and find nothing worse
than myself, caught between the grapes and the thorns.

Day 28:
At last!
she cried out,
and locked the door.

Day 29:
Dearest,
although everything has happened,
nothing has happened.

Day 30:
You do not love anyone. She is not growing a boy;
she is enlarging a stone to wear around her neck.

Day 31:
they both die like waves breaking over me
and I am drowning a little,
but always swimming

saekhwa: Text on gray background that reads: 'Are we battleships for authorship, a rich man's gun?' (rich man's gun)
[personal profile] saekhwa
Day 17:
I open the eyes
and they go sick like dogs
with what they have seen.

Day 18:
I sit here on the spike of truth.
No one to hate except the slim fish of memory
that slides in and out of my brain.

Day 19:
I must always forget who one words is able to pick
out another, to manner another, until I have got
something I might have said…

Day 20:
the grass as bristly and stout as chives,
and me wondering when the ground would break,
and me wondering how anything fragile survives;

Day 21:
To love another is something
like prayer and can't be planned, you just fall

Day 22:
Now you grab me by the ankles.
Now you work your way up the legs
and come to pierce me at my hunger mark

Day 23:
From within the satin
And the suede of this inhuman bed,
Something cried, let me go let me go.

Day 24:
then they leave home on horseback
but God returns them on foot.
pf_mod: modern pseudo-cubist painting of a red headed woman holding a book with a red cover (Default)
[personal profile] pf_mod
Day 9:
And we both wrote poems we couldn't write
and cried together the whole long night
and fell in love with a delicate breath

Day 10:
Even so, I must admire your skill.
You are so gracefully insane.

Day 11:
I walk. I walk.
I hold matches at street signs
for it is dark,

Day 12:
However, nothing is just what it seems to be.
My objects dream and wear new costumes,
compelled to, it seems, by all the words in my hands

Day 13:
A penny for your thoughts, Princess.
I will hunt them like an emerald.

Day 14:
I am torn in two
but I will conquer myself.

Day 15:
and this is no dream
just my oily life
where the people are alibis

Day 16:
and there was a small rain
and she lifted her face to it
and thought it part of the river.

Thanks to the amazing [profile] lady_krysis, we have a master list for the first week of the challenge!

Day 1:
Word for word, I stumble.
A beginner, I feel your mouth touch mine.

Day 2:
I am queen of all my sins
forgotten. Am I still lost?
Once I was beautiful. Now I am myself,

Day 3:
I kneel once more,
in case mercy should come
in the nick of time.

Day 4:
It's old-fashioned, as stylish as a bedbug,
but it suits to die in something nostalgic.

Day 5:
Now I am fairest, she said,
lapping her slim white fingers.

Day 6:
He is the undefiled,
the eternal listener
who has cried back into the earth.

Day 7:
He wants, I want.
Dear God, wouldn't it be
good enough to just drink cocoa?

Day 8:
if it's the end of the world,
it must be necessary.
