# The writing period is from January 1, 2011 to January 31, 2011.
# Posting begins February 1, 2011. You have until September 30, 2011 to post your story, as on October 1, 2011 the featured poet will change.
... sorry if I'm being really thick, but doesn't this, in essence, mean that you have until September 30th to write your story? Because otherwise how will people know if you've written it in January but just not posted it until September, or whether you've written it in September?
You're absolutely right—I was thinking of how inclusive I wanted this challenge to be, and I decided that if you finish your story before the next poet is announced, then you have every right to post the story to the community.
In order to distinguish those who are just posting their stories to the community versus those that actually finished the story on time, there is going to be a special incentive for everyone who posts during the first week of February. I will definitely make a post to clarify this before I give out the prompts. ^_^
Hee, thank you for explaining that. Makes me feel much better -- & I think, w/those of us currently in some state of stress over end-of-year exchanges, it might make people more comfortable about participating!
My pleasure! I want to make this challenge as low stress and accessible as possible, and I know the holiday exchanges are really exhausting for everyone involved. My main goal here is that we just all have fun. :)
Hi! In the hellscape of 2020, I somehow forgot that this challenge wasn't also on tumblr and forgot to check dreamwidth for it. I know that I am too late, but it was a really good experience for me when I did it in 2018, so I'd like to ask if you could still send me a prompt. If that's not possible, I understand, of course. Best wishes for the new year!
Not a mod, but in the AO3 posting interface (shown in the pic below), if you scroll down, you'll see a section called 'Associations.' In that section, there will be a field titled 'Post to Collections/Challenges.'
You can type 'poetry' in the field, and Poetry Fiction 2011 will be one of the options. Select Poetry Fiction 2011 and then when you're ready to post, your story will appear in the collection. Hope this helps! ^_^
Alternatively, if you haven't already posted your fic to AO3, you can go to the Poetry Fiction 2011 AO3 Collection and click the 'Post To Collection' button in the top, right-hand side of the page.
I will swear to the fact that I'd written and posted a story for the last challenge, but cannot find it anywhere [my hard drives, my journals, teh comm, AO3]. Since yesterday was the deadline, I now don't have anything, so does this mean I'm out this round?
Are we able to sign up on both this comm & poet_inspired or do we just sign up once? I'm trying to decide if I've got the spoons to go more than once or not.
You can participate in both challenges if you'd like. If you're interested in poet_inspired, put your name on that sign up post. Likewise for poetry_fiction. Thanks!
Posting begins February 1, 2018 through February 7, 2018.
Do we have to wait until Feb 1st to post it anywhere? Or if we finish earlier can we post it to Ao3 or our journal when we're finished and then link it to the community between those dates? Just wondering.
That's a good question that's never come up before.
We would like you to refrain from posting anywhere until February 1, although once the posting period begins you can post it anywhere, as long as you make an entry in the community with a link.

Also! We do have a tumblr for this challenge:

I'm not a mod, but...
Date: 2012-10-02 03:39 am (UTC)There's no posting amnesty pieces from October through February, but there are never restrictions on who can play the current round. Groovy, right? :D
