Just a quick clarification: the rules say:

# The writing period is from January 1, 2011 to January 31, 2011.

# Posting begins February 1, 2011. You have until September 30, 2011 to post your story, as on October 1, 2011 the featured poet will change.

... sorry if I'm being really thick, but doesn't this, in essence, mean that you have until September 30th to write your story? Because otherwise how will people know if you've written it in January but just not posted it until September, or whether you've written it in September?

You're absolutely right—I was thinking of how inclusive I wanted this challenge to be, and I decided that if you finish your story before the next poet is announced, then you have every right to post the story to the community.

In order to distinguish those who are just posting their stories to the community versus those that actually finished the story on time, there is going to be a special incentive for everyone who posts during the first week of February. I will definitely make a post to clarify this before I give out the prompts. ^_^

Hee, thank you for explaining that. Makes me feel much better -- & I think, w/those of us currently in some state of stress over end-of-year exchanges, it might make people more comfortable about participating!

My pleasure! I want to make this challenge as low stress and accessible as possible, and I know the holiday exchanges are really exhausting for everyone involved. My main goal here is that we just all have fun. :)

Hi! In the hellscape of 2020, I somehow forgot that this challenge wasn't also on tumblr and forgot to check dreamwidth for it. I know that I am too late, but it was a really good experience for me when I did it in 2018, so I'd like to ask if you could still send me a prompt. If that's not possible, I understand, of course. Best wishes for the new year!
